Our centre is conveniently located on Styles Street, Leichhardt which is Gadigal and Wangal land. We are close to Norton Street and Public transport, with ample spaces for drop off/pick up by car. We are proud of our beautiful outdoor space with an abundance of trees and natural light. To apply for a place, submit a waiting list application

Philosophy statement

At Styles Street Children’s Community Long Day Care Centre we are a community of learners that strive to provide a welcoming, caring and stimulating environment where all children, families and staff feel a sense of belonging and connectedness.

We value play as children’s work and believe that it is through this medium that children learn and grow. We support children to do this with thoughtfully planned and spontaneous play-based learning experiences.

We place a high value on developing respectful and reciprocal relationships with children, families, each other and those within our community and the wider world, as we know relationships are  the foundations of wellbeing and learning.

We know social and emotional skills to be important for all children to develop as it is through these skills that children connect with others and learn and grow, both now and in the future.

We celebrate diversity in all its forms and challenge biases, striving to create a community where everyone can be themselves and we can make a positive difference in the world.

We respect and value the traditional custodians of the land, developing our knowledge of our first nations culture and building connections with First Nations people to help build a more inclusive and respectful Australia for everyone.

We love and respect the natural world and see it is an essential part of our lives in Australia. We strive to educate children about this, helping children to fall in love with and care for the natural world, so they can then look after it.

We view early childhood as a unique time in itself to be respected and celebrated in the here and now, while also acknowledging the great importance this time has in laying foundations for future learning, health and wellbeing.

We value children as competent and capable individuals, supporting them to grow up with the understandings, skills and dispositions to be successful learners. At Styles Street we have a deep care for the world around us. We envision ourselves as a community that fosters all our members to be involved global citizens to grow a more respectful and inclusive world. We hope to greatly reduce our ecological footprint and support the natural environment to thrive. We aim to create beautiful, natural learning environments for children which inspire them to connect to the natural world, to learn and grow alongside it.
